What to expect
NON-DISCRIMINATION POLICY
We look forward to serving all people, and do not discriminate on the basis of ability, age, ancestry, citizenship status, gender identity or expression, marital status, military status, national origin, race, religion, sex or sexual orientation.
CANCELLATION POLICY
We look forward to serving you. If you can’t make it, please allow 24-hours notice so we can make your time slot available to another client. If this is not possible, you’ll be charged for the full amount of your session.
MEDICAL CONCERNS

HOW WE AT TRUE NATURE WORK TOGETHER
We are a team of professional colleagues whose work is aligned. We believe that supporting one another lifts us all. We share best practices and provide one another with peer supervision and support as needed. The name “True Nature Wilderness Therapy” is a sole-proprietorship registered and owned by Heather Hendrie and other practitioners listed here on this website practice under their own businesses names and insurance.
COMMITMENT TO CHANGE
We believe that much of the exciting growth that can come through therapy arises through relationship. To foster the therapeutic relationship and based on research espousing regular counselling sessions, we deliver our sessions weekly or bi-weekly. We ask for your commitment both to regular attendance to sessions (and of course we realize that life gets in the way sometimes!), as well as a commitment to the change process, which can at times stretch you, but provide great reward in the end. In general, clients work with us for 6 months to one year.
SOCIAL MEDIA
True Nature Wilderness Therapy maintains a social media presence. You are invited and welcome to engage with our posts, but please note that because we have a duty to maintain client confidentiality, we will generally not engage back. We don’t follow, friend or interact with clients through this avenue, limiting interactions instead to our counselling sessions where we can ensure confidentiality. Another thing to consider is that some people prefer to only interact with their therapist in session. Please know that when you follow our social media accounts, you might be given a window into our lifestyle outside of our therapeutic relationship. Some clients appreciate this, whereas others prefer to keep a boundary here. This is your choice and we encourage you to consider what might create the best therapeutic outcome for you.
FOR URGENT HELP
In engaging in therapeutic work, it is alway possible that you may feel worse before beginning to feel better. We are not in a position to provide on-call services. If you need immediate support, please contact 9-1-1, or local distress or emergency services.
